Natural Wax Melts, Scented from the Source
The wax melt range gives you the full collection of island scents in a wick-free format, each one hand-poured in our factory on Harris using premium fragrance oils. Our 100% natural soy wax melts work with our wax melt burner to release their fragrance slowly and evenly as the wax melts.
Each bar is made from 100% natural soy wax and the same fragrance blends you'll find in our candles, so you can bring the whole Harris collection into your home. From the fruity brightness of Huisinis to the deep warmth of Adru, there's a melt for every mood and every room.
No flame required: unlike candles, wax melts don’t have a flame and can be used with an electric burner if you prefer to keep things flame-free.
Lasts longer: natural soy wax melts at a lower temperature than paraffin, releasing fragrance gradually rather than in a single initial hit.
Burns cleaner: natural soy wax produces significantly less soot than paraffin, so the air in your home stays fresher through every melt.
Vegan and paraben-free: every bar is made from a renewable crop with no synthetic dyes or animal-derived ingredients.
Why the Best Wax Melts Start With Natural Soy Wax
Most wax melts on the market use paraffin, a petroleum by-product that produces more soot and a shorter, sharper scent release. We use 100% natural soy wax in each wax melt, which burns cleaner and holds fragrance oils more evenly, so the scent builds gradually and stays longer. As a concentrated block of scented wax sitting directly in the heat source, a wax melt also delivers a stronger scent experience than a candle, which burns at a lower temperature across a wider surface. If you want to fill a larger room or want more fragrance presence, a wax melt works harder.
On Harris, we've used natural soy wax across the entire product range from the beginning: not because it's a trend, but because it performs better and fits what we believe a home fragrance should be: gentle, natural, and worth savouring.
Choosing between scent characters: the six bars divide into three clear families: bright and fruity (Huisinis, Horgabost), warm and deep (Seilebost, Adru), and softer and floral (Losgaintir, Peony Whisper), so you match fragrance to mood rather than guessing.
Building a home fragrance approach: the wax melt scent families sit alongside the Essence of Harris candle and diffuser ranges, so the same fragrance runs through different formats in different rooms.
The Wax Melt Range
Zingy and uplifting, the Huisinis bar releases layers of pink pomelo, orange, grapefruit, and rhubarb as it warms, filling your home with a bright, fruity fragrance that lifts the room. It takes its name from Huisinis beach, where the machair runs down to meet the Atlantic, and carries that same freshness of an island morning. Perfect for a kitchen or living space when you want the energy of the coast without leaving the house.
Rich and relaxing, the Losgaintir bar blends coconut, bergamot, and vanilla into a warm, unhurried fragrance that settles gently through the whole room. Named after the sweeping white beach on the west coast of the island, it's the melt we reach for when the day finally slows down. Place it in a living room or bedroom and let the warmth settle in with a sense of ease.
Vibrant and direct, the Horgabost wax melt bar drives lemongrass, lemon, and ginger through your home in a bright, spiced fragrance that stays lively without tipping into sharp. It takes its name from a beach on Harris where the water runs clear and blue, it's the melt for mornings when you want energy rather than calm. We love it in a kitchen or home office, where the citrus and spice combination sharpens focus without overwhelming the space.
Warm and layered, the Seilebost wax melt bar draws plum, pomegranate, and patchouli slowly through your home as it melts, building a rich, fruity depth that fills the room without overpowering it. Named after a sheltered beach on the west of Harris, it's a scent that rewards patience: it deepens the longer it melts.
Delicate and refined, the Peony Whisper wax melt bar opens with peony, jasmine, rose, and freesia before settling into the quiet warmth of white musk as it melts. It's the only truly floral scent in the range, and the one to reach for when you want something quiet and intimate rather than bold. Ideal for a bedroom or bathroom, where a gentle fragrance can linger without overpowering.
Warm and grounding, the Adru wax melt bar releases wild nettle, oakmoss, black peppercorn, sandalwood, and musk as it melts, wrapping your home in one of the most elemental scents in the range. Inspired by the rugged, weathered landscape of the Harris coast, it's deep and earthy without being heavy. It suits a study, sitting room, or any space where you want something rooted and substantial, a fragrance that holds its own through a full evening.
How to Choose the Right Wax Melt for Your Home
100% Natural Soy Wax: burns at a lower temperature than paraffin, releasing fragrance evenly and producing significantly less soot, so the air in your home stays cleaner through every melt.
Slow, Even Scent Release: soy wax delivers fragrance gradually over a longer period, giving each bar more hours per use and a more balanced scent distribution across the room.
Vegan and Paraben-Free Formula: every bar contains no animal-derived ingredients or synthetic binders, so the fragrance that fills your home comes from natural fragrance and essential oils only.
Switch Scents as the Mood Changes: unlike a candle, a wax melt car doesn’t commit you to a certain scent. Swap one bar for another whenever you want to change fragrance over the day.
When choosing wax melts, the wax type is one of the most important factors. Soy wax melts at a lower temperature than paraffin, producing a slower and more consistent scent release and significantly less soot. This produces a more even, lasting scent throw and significantly less soot, which makes a noticeable difference in smaller rooms. A 100% soy wax bar performs differently from one that blends soy with paraffin or synthetic carriers.
The quality of the fragrance itself is the second variable. Mass-produced wax melts often rely on cheaper scent compounds that peak fast and fade before the bar has finished melting. The fragrance oils we use perform at the lower melt temperature of soy wax, releasing evenly throughout the melt rather than burning off in the first few minutes. The result is a scent that builds properly, holds across the room, and lasts for the full life of the bar.
The Essence of Harris soy wax melt range uses 100% natural soy wax and the same premium fragrance oils found across the collection. Each bar is formulated specifically for use with a wax melt burner and is vegan, paraben-free, and free from synthetic dyes. The six bars cover the complete Essence of Harris scent range, from the fruity brightness of Huisinis to the deep, grounding warmth of Adru.
Soy Wax Melt FAQs
How do I use a wax melt bar?
Break 1-2 cubes from the bar and place them in the dish of a wax melt burner. Heat from a tealight or electric element below warms the wax gradually, releasing the fragrance into the room. Once the scent fades, let the wax cool and solidify completely before handling. At that point you can lift the disc out whole, or press a piece of kitchen roll gently into the solid wax to absorb it and wipe the dish clean.
How long do wax melt bars last?
Each bar delivers multiple uses when broken into individual sections. Natural soy wax holds fragrance longer than paraffin, and each piece typically has a four-hour burn time before its scent begins to fade.
Which scent is right for me?
For brighter, fruitier fragrances, Huisinis (pink pomelo, orange, grapefruit, rhubarb) and Horgabost (lemongrass, lemon, ginger) are the clearest options. For something warmer and deeper, Seilebost (plum, pomegranate, patchouli) and Adru (wild nettle, oakmoss, black peppercorn, sandalwood, musk) suit spaces where you want a more substantial, grounding fragrance. Losgaintir (coconut, bergamot, vanilla) and Peony Whisper (peony, jasmine, rose, freesia, white musk) sit between the two.
Are your wax melt bars vegan?
Yes. Every Essence of Harris wax melt bar uses a vegan, paraben-free formula with no animal-derived ingredients. The wax base is 100% natural soy wax and no synthetic binders appear in any bar.
